Currently we have contracts with Liverpool and Knowsley to provide training for long term unemployed adults, and other disadvantaged adults from deprived areas. We also run the CREATE Futures programme which is a partnership arrangement between HMP Liverpool, the City Employment Strategy via Knowsley Works and ourselves.
Our target is to make at least 60% of these people employable and move them into work within 3-6 months.
If we don’t meet these targets we lose the contracts
We are working with other local councils to provide similar work opportunities across Merseyside
Target employment groups are:
Adults unemployed for at least 12 months
Ex offenders
Ex substance misusers
Disadvantaged ethnic groups
Disabled adults
What we provide for our trainee workers:
PAID employment for between 3 and 6 months at minimum wage
Job search
Interview training
Links to employers and employment agencies
Real work combined with personal support

So far, from 1997 to 2009, over 400 people have moved through CREATE's training programmes into full time sustainable employment.
